Love my iPad

I was very upset last night when I found out that my DSL was out... Then I remembered I had 3G on my iPad. It was great. I was able to go online to look up my DSL provider so I could find out what was going on. I had a chat with them and found out that it was a widespread issue that was going to take at least 24 hours to correct. They are going to credit my account for the week (which makes me wonder how long it is really going to take). I went to sleep happy with my 3G (not really upset about my DSL). Around 3 in the morning I woke to a serious thunderstorm. I immediately reached for my iPad and again used my 3G (still no DSL service). It was comforting to be able to see the radar and the warnings without having to actually turn on the tv.

Sight Word app demo

My husband recently started using the online training programs through www.lynda.com, and it seems my daughter has noticed. She decided that she wanted to do a lynda.com demonstration of the iPod apps she loves the most. This particular app is one that is used to practice sight words. It has a lot of settings that can be changed within the app to make it more difficult or easier, but she is showing it to you the way it would normally be used.

Lower case letters are always best when available. It was also set to only allow her to spell the word from left to right; I like this because it is logical and shows them the left to right progression. In addition, the word is respelled after it is completed.

Blog

Who would have thought that I would have started a blog?!? This blog is dedicated to Sharon, my "driving force" at school.

On a more serious note, since it has been 90+℉ this week, it is time to remind everyone not to leave your computers in your car. Of course, I feel like I should also say here that you should also not leave your children, animals, or chocolate in the car either. If you are going to be stopping somewhere on the way home from school, you are going to need to take your computer inside with you. I realize this may not be ideal, but it will save you a huge headache!

This computer's battery has swollen to the point that we had to pry it out. It got too hot in a computer cart in the building, but if it can get too hot inside, imagine what it could do in your car!
